Somerset ISD in Texas - Region 20

Somerset ISD was established in 1922. It covers over 85 miles in Bexar and Atascosa County. It has six campuses including 3 elementary schools, 1 intermediate school, 1 junior high school, and 1 high school. It also has an Early College Leadership Academy.

The district offers a widespread curriculum for every type of learner such as bilingual, special education, alternative schooling, at-risk students and more. These programs were made to ensure that the educational needs of students of all learning levels are met. Performance and Accountability Ratings

As of 2013, Somerset ISD has received a rating of "Met Standard" in accordance to the Texas Education Agency's Accountability Rating Standards. Also, all but three schools within the district received the rating of "Met Standard" including Somerset Elementary School, Somerset Early Childhood Elementary, and Barrera Veterans Elementary. As of 2014, these three school have achieved the "Met Standard" rating, according to the TEA website. Some of the Somerset ISD schools have also gained academic distinctions along with their "Met Standard" rating in areas such as math, top 25 percent student progress, and reading/ELA.

Also, students on the secondary level are encouraged to take Honors, Pre-Advanced Placement, Advanced Placement Classes or Dual Credit.

Early College Leadership Academy

Somerset ISD's Early College Leadership Academy is made possible through a multi-district partnership with Poteet ISD and Lytle ISD. The ECLA helps students earn an associate's degree in Liberal Arts upon graduation through the partnership of Palo Alto College and Alamo Community Colleges.

Somerset Education Foundation

The Somerset Education Foundation is run by volunteer representatives who seek to improve the educational environment of students, teachers, and staff through donations from the community and businesses. It believes in the partnership of communities and businesses to inspire and support students and teachers. The donations are often used as grants and scholarships for teachers who bring innovation to their classrooms and students who show a bright and promising future. The grants also support individual schools and staff members.
