8-12 Social Studies
The 8-12 Social Studies content area
allows you to teach social studies in 8th grade and all social
studies and economics courses in 9th grade through 12th grade.
Requirement for Admission:
Individuals applying for the Social Studies 8-12 certification area
should have a minimum of 12 semester hours of college coursework in
social studies related courses (i.e., history, geography, economics,
government, or political science classes).
Alternatively, you can take the #132 Social Studies 8-12 TExES
certification exam if you don’t meet the minimum hour requirement.
