Texas 8-12 Science Certification

8-12 Science

The 8-12 Science content area allows you to teach science in 8th grade and all science* courses in 9th grade through 12th grade.

Minimum GPA of 2.5 in 36 semester hours of science, in any combination of core courses to include at least:

6 hours of physics
6 hours of chemistry
6 hours of biology

Note: GPA must be 2.5 or higher using one of the three evaluation methods – overall GPA, last 60 hours, or by content hours.
*Includes Principles of Technology I and II, and all Health Science Technology courses for which science credit is given in grades 9 through 12.
