8-12 English Language Arts and Reading
The English Language Arts and
Reading 8-12 content area allows you to teach English language
arts and reading in 8th grade and all English language arts and
reading courses in 9th grade through 12th grade.
Requirement for Admission:
Individuals applying for the English Language Arts and Reading
8-12 certification area should have a minimum of 12 semester
hours of college coursework in English related courses (this can
include communication classes).
Alternatively, you can take the #131 English Language Arts and
Reading 8-12 TExES certification exam if you don’t meet the
minimum hour requirement.
