Northside ISD in Texas - Region 20

Northside ISD is located in San Antonio, Texas. It is home to 75 elementary schools, 20 middle schools, 16 high schools, and 6 special schools. In the 2014 - 2015 school year, Northside ISD had an enrollment of 102,953 students. For the 2015 - 2016 school year, they are predicting increased enrollment numbers, expecting the number of students to be around 104,786. Through core academics, the arts, their career and technology education program, electives, and extracurricular activities they seek to provide students with a quality education that develops the minds and abilities of their students.

One of the efforts of giving students a quality education is offering students the opportunity to learn a language at select elementary and middle schools. They use the Dual Language Immersion program where they implement the 50/50 classroom model or the 90/10 classroom model. Certain subjects will be taught in the desired language and students will not only develop bilingual skills but bi-literacy skills as well.

For students who show high academic promise, an interest in learning, and high achievement, Northside ISD provides students with the Gifted/Talented and Enrichment Programs from grade K - 12th. The program is called Advanced Learning Programs for High Achievers and it seeks to challenge the student intellectually, creatively, and it challenges their dedication. The lessons tend to be interactive and hands on. Depending on the grade level, students will have the opportunity to receive credit by examination, participate in honors and advanced placement courses, and receive dual credit.

The fine arts and athletic department has helped students nurture their creative and athletic skills. Students interested in the arts can choose from art, dance, music and theater. Students are able to showcase their work and meet professionals who have made their art a part of their career. Many students in the fine arts department has excelled in UIL and competitions. Students who are interested in athletics have a variety of sports at their disposal to test and develop their skills in such as:

Northside ISD offers students the chance to explore career and possible major interest to help prepare for post secondary education and their chosen career field. Student are able to study career clusters such as:

Apart from gaining knowledge, students will be able to gain college credit, dual credit and / or certifications, depending on the course taken.
