Region 10 -
Frisco Independent School District
Frisco ISD
Frisco Independent School District encompasses seventy five square miles
and serves residents in Collin and Denton counties, residents of Frisco,
and some areas of Plano, Little Elm and McKinney. Frisco Independent
School District is approximately thirty miles north of Dallas and is the
fifth largest employer in Collin County.
In July 2007, the continuous expansion of this part of Texas was
recognized in an article in Forbes.com as being part of “America’s
Fastest Growing Suburbs.” Frisco being in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro
area, was ranked number seven on this list. A result of this enormous
growth is having some of the most affordable homes in the nation. The
Frisco area expanded from a population of 35,299 in 2000 to 80,499 in
2006.
The growth in population correlates to the student enrollment within
Frisco Independent School District. In March 2008, enrollment was up to
27,634 and 1,900 teachers were employed during the 2007-2008 school
year. At the moment, the district consists of twenty five elementary
schools, seven middle schools, four high schools, two special program
schools, Memorial Stadium, and a natatorium.
New teachers to Frisco Independent School District will earn a salary of
$44,500 according to the 2008-2009 pay schedule. Novice teachers attend
the Beginning Teacher’s Academy, which aides in networking and focuses
on areas pertinent to the first year. Classroom management, lesson
plans, parent conferencing, and many others are such topics covered in
the academy. Frisco Independent School District also offers tuition
reimbursement for teachers pursuing advanced degrees.
Frisco Independent School District provides all its employees with a
comprehensive health plan, an innovative 401(a) program, an in-district
child care program, and many other benefits and incentives. For more
detailed information about the district, check out the website at:

Parent and community involvement is strongly encouraged throughout
Frisco Independent School District. The PTA’s and PTO’s are very active,
along with mentoring programs, a school-business partnership program, a
speaker’s bureau, and The Frisco Education Foundation that raises money
to provide scholarships for graduating seniors and teaching grants for
teachers.
The 2007 district accountability rating, as given by TEA (Texas
Education Agency) is Academically Acceptable. However, thirteen campuses
received an Exemplary rating, thirteen were rated as Recognized, and six

Alternative Certification Program
Online certification programs have become extremely popular in today’s
busy, fast-paced society. If you’ve already earned a Bachelor’s degree,
you’re closer to becoming a certified teacher than you think!
Web-Centric Alternative Certification Program (WCACP) provides online
classes with up-to-date teaching practices, curriculum, and standards
set by the state. The coursework also incorporates chat sessions and
videoconferencing to give students the benefits of a personal classroom
experience.
Depending on the time a student can invest in the program, the
coursework can be completed in as little as 12-18 weeks. WCACP will
prepare students for the one-year teaching internship that is required
for earning a teaching certificate. The flexible schedule provides
students to complete the course at their own pace.
We can help you get fully licensed to teach in Frisco Independent School
District and any other public school system in Texas.
Because the program is
conducted entirely online, students can work at their own pace to
complete the online curriculum. It is especially ideal for people who
because of job or family commitments cannot commit to a full-time
traditional certification program.
