PACT FAQs

What is my first step if I plan to take the PACT prior to acceptance into WCACP?

Submit an online application and let your admission advisor know of your plans to register for the PACT.

What is the Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT)?

The PACT is an instrument set-up through the state legislature that allows individuals the opportunity to take their content exam prior to starting an alternative certification program in Texas.

Which content exam should I take via the PACT? What content areas will not qualify?

You can take any one of the content exams WCACP is approved to offer in Texas. Supplemental areas will not qualify for the discount: (1) Bilingual Supp, (2) ESL Supp, (3) Gifted & Talented Supp, and (4) Special Education Supp.

How do I sign-up for the PACT?

Follow the PACT Instructions to register for your content exam. If you have trouble registering for the PACT, contact Educational Testing Services (ETS) at 1-800-205-2626. More information can be found on the ETS website.

Will I have to retake my content exam during the program, since I took the PACT?

No. Passing scores will eliminate the need to take your content exam after acceptance. This state requirement is complete unless you decide to add an additional certification area during the program (i.e., ESL or Special Education).

Should I wait to submit my WCACP admission paperwork until after passing the PACT?

No. You should submit your admission paperwork first, so we can review your file once passing PACT scores are received. No delay will occur if you already have your admission paperwork on file.

Should you let WCACP know if you are taking the PACT prior to admission?

Yes. You should let your admission advisor know once you apply to the program. This will allow us to make a note in your file. Please include the content exam you are taking and your test date.

How much is the Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT)?
