PBT vs CAT Computer-Administered Test (CAT)
- This test is offered on a weekly
basis – 7 days a week
- You will receive your scores within
2-4 days
- Test fee is always $120
- You can retake the test every 60
days
- Taken in a computer lab – usually at
a community college or university
- Test dates – must go through the
registration process on the ETS website to view available test dates
and locations

The Paper-Based Test (PBT)
is also an option to take your content test:
- All content exams are offered during
paper based test dates
- Test is a paper and pencil exam –
scantron format
- Takes approximately three weeks to
get scores/four weeks for 8-12 ELA test
- Only offered during
morning/afternoon Saturday sessions –
