The city of Duncanville consists of 28.7 square miles in the SW region
of Dallas County and houses approximately 60,000 residents. Duncanville
Independent School District serves the entire city of Duncanville and
portions of Dallas, Cedar Hill and DeSoto. The current student
enrollment of 12,300 attends a total of eighteen campuses; nine
elementary schools, three intermediate schools, three middle schools,
one high school, the PACE campus, and the Summit campus.
The PACE campus offers an accelerated instruction program for
non-traditional students. The Summit campus provides educational
services within a structured environment to students with behavioral
concerns.
Duncanville Independent School District is one of the largest employers
in the area, with approximately 1,600 employees, including 800 classroom
teachers. New teachers to the district earn a salary of $41,000
according to the 2007-2008 pay schedule. Employees are offered many

nation as having an elite athletic program. In May 2005, Duncanville was
ranked #24 in the nation out of 38,000 high schools by Sports
Illustrated for its athletic programs. Two Duncanville ISD athletic
facilities have recently received national recognition. Baseball
America, a national magazine, ranked the Duncanville Panther Baseball
Stadium as the 5th Best High School Ballpark Facility in the nation, and
USA TODAY, a national daily newspaper, named the Sandra Meadows Memorial
Arena as one of the Top 10 Great Places to Watch High School Basketball.

Acceptable. In 2006-2007, thirteen of the seventeen campuses earned one
or more Gold Performance Acknowledgments (GPA). The Gold Performance
Acknowledgment recognizes districts and campuses for high academic
performance on various indicators, such as commended performance on
Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). There are 12 different
categories in which a GPA can be earned at the district level and 14
different categories at the campus level.
