Teaching candidates must contact a school district, accredited private school or charter school directly to inquire about observation policies and procedures. It is the responsibility of the teaching candidate to set-up the observation assignments.
Summary of choices to complete observation hours:
In-Class – up to 30 are allowed
Virtual – up to 10 approved videos are allowed (videos that meet state guidelines are provided in the curriculum)
Substitute – up to 15 days of substitute experience can be used (each day is equivalent to 1 hour of observation credit)
Instructional Aide – up to 30 days of instructional aide experience can be used (each day is equivalent to 1 hour of observation credit)
*WCACP will not count substitute teaching or instructional aide hours that occurred more than five years ago.
