Region 10 - Allen Independent School District

About Allen ISD

Allen Independent School District (AISD) is located in the rapidly growing city of Allen, Texas. Allen is a suburban community twenty three miles north of Dallas. The district serves over 17,000 students, including some students in grades 10-12 from the nearby communities of Fairview and Lucas. Allen ISD’s campuses consist of one high school, one freshman center, three middle schools, and thirteen elementary schools.

Allen ISD works to ensure that they provide all the tools necessary for students and parents to have a positive experience while working towards educational success. Two family-friendly programs the district offers are Kids Club and ParentCONNECT.

  • Kids Club is an after school program for grades K-6. Students are offered a variety of recreational, social and enrichment activities each day. Each site is staffed by Allen ISD employees.
  • ParentCONNECT is a home-to-school collaboration tool for grades 6-12 only. Parents/Guardians can access the easy to use website and keep track of their students’ schedules, grades, assignments, attendance, and course history. Parents/guardians can also easily communicate with teachers via e-mail or receive automatic e-mail notification of unexcused absences, missing assignments, or failing grades.

Allen ISD projects an enrollment increase of about 9% per year over the next ten years. Regardless of enrollment increases, Allen ISD is committed to maintaining acceptable student-to-staff ratios and class sizes through the hiring of additional staff. As a new teacher in Allen ISD, the starting salary is $44,500, with an excellent employee benefit package.

If you are interested in joining the Allen ISD community, a wide variety of teaching positions are available for all grades and subjects. For an online job application and more information about Allen ISD, check out the website: http://www.allenisd.org.

Alternative Certification Programs

If you are interested in teaching in Allen ISD or any other school system in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but do not have a teaching license, our online program is available to help you gain the proper credentials. If you already have your bachelor’s degree, an alternative certification program will enable you to earn your teaching certificate without having to go back to college full time.

WCACP is the perfect program for people who are interested in starting a second career in teaching. Because the coursework is conducted entirely online, students can work at their own pace. Those who have the option of dedicating a full-time effort to their teaching course can complete the pre-teaching coursework in as little as 12-18 weeks. The course material incorporates chat sessions and videoconferencing to give students the benefits of a personal classroom experience without frustrating scheduling conflicts.

The program is designed to prepare teaching candidates for their one-year teaching internship that is required for earning their teaching certificate. The program places students in a regular classroom setting so they can get the practical, hands-on personal experience needed to become effective teachers. Students who want to complete the certification program quickly have the option of doing their online coursework concurrently with the teaching internship.
