The ESL Generalist EC-6 content area allows you to teach English, math, science, social studies, music, art, health and physical education in an ESL setting at the elementary level, Early Childhood through 6th grade.

Requirement for Admission:

Individuals applying for the ESL Generalist EC-6 certification area should have a minimum of 12 semester hours of college coursework (3 hours of English, 3 hours of math, 3 hours of science, & 3 hours of social studies).

Alternatively, you can take the #193 ESL Generalist EC-6 TExES certification exam if you don’t meet the minimum hour requirement.
