4-8 Generalist - English
as a Second Language (ESL)
The ESL Generalist 4-8 content area allows
you to teach any one or a combination of English, math, science
and/or social studies classes in an ESL setting at the middle school
level, 4th grade through 8th grade.
Requirement for Admission:
Individuals applying for the ESL Generalist 4-8 certification area
should have a minimum of 12 semester hours of college coursework (3
hours of English, 3 hours of math, 3 hours of science, & 3 hours of
social studies).
Alternatively, you can take the #120 ESL Generalist 4-8 TExES
certification exam if you don’t meet the minimum hour requirement.
